Gillian's Dinosaur Website

I'm Gillian and I'm 7 years old. I like dinosaurs and Egypt. This website will talk about dinosaurs. Since I was a baby, I studied them.

I have a very good book about dinosaurs, called A Guide to Dinosaurs, edited by Michael K. Brett-Surman. I have drawn pictures which are shown below with some information about the dinosaurs.

Tyrannosaurus Rex

Tyrannosaurus Rex liked to eat meat. Tyrannosaurus was one of the largest dinosaurs.

T-rex had two fingers. He had strong teeth.

He lived in North America and in other places, too.

Euoplocephalus

Euoplocephalus was a plant eater. He was built like a tank with bony shields and spikes.

He had a good sense of smell. He had a club on his tail. He liked to be alone.

Longnecks

Longnecks eat plants.

There are many different kinds of Longnecks. The longest neck of any animal known to us from any time belonged to Mamenchisaurus.

Some Longnecks are green.

Oviraptor

Oviraptor was strange looking.

He was fast on his feet. He was the most bird-like dinosaur.

Oviraptors built nests for their eggs.

Extinction

At the end of the Cretaceous period, something big happened leading to the end of all dinosaurs! Many people believe the extinction was caused by a big catastrophe, such as a meteor or a comet hitting Earth. No one knows for sure how long the extinction took, with durations ranging from half-a-million years to as short as a few years. Whatever the cause, dinosaurs, who had ruled the Earth starting around 220 million years ago, disappeared around 65 million years ago. The only "dinosaurs" left today, some think, are the birds.

Crocodile (or alligator).
