Generating mp3 files for podcasts

Last week Lesley Parness asked whether we could serve audio tours of the Arboretum from the Friends webserver. I put together a quick and dirty test to demonstrate that serving mp3 files is quite simple (see http://home.acheson.org/test-mp3.html for the demo).

The bigger issue in my mind is how to generate the mp3 files. What follows are some links on how to accomplish this.
