Canon 10d Digital SLR

This fantastic SLR body moved me from film to silicon in Spring 2003. It's hard to describe the impact this camera has had on my photography.

First, of course, is the small whirlpool at the bottom of my bank account. Neither it nor all the goodies -- lenses, cases, flash cards, etc., are cheap.

All the rest of the points, though, are positive. I now take many more pictures, I get immediate feedback on the quality of the image, I can print the pictures -- with or without manipulation, anytime I choose and without the need for complex, tricky darkroom processes.

Canon 20d Digital SLR

This wonderful camera followed me home in mid-December, 2004. Nine months and over 3,000 shutter-releases later, I can only say that Canon makes incredible equipment.

My 10d now lives in Edwardsville, IL.

Memory Cards

The 10d (and 20d) take Compact Flash (CF) cards. Here is Roger Gailbraith's monster memory card review.

Accessories

Lenses

I have several lenses:

  • Canon EF-S 10-22 mm f/3.5-4.5 USM super wide zoom. Superb lens.
  • Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 EF IS - a fine lens, greatly enhanced by the IS technology.
  • Canon 50mm f/1.8 EF - a wonderfully sharp, cheap normal lens.
  • Canon EF 70-300 mm f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM. Superb lens. 58 mm accessories.
  • Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX macro. 1st class macro, allowing up to 1:2 magnification

These two have moved to Edwardsville, IL:

  • Canon EF 20-35mm f/3.5-5.6 EF. Good, lightweight, reasonably wide-angle zoom.
  • Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX. Extremely sharp, bright, versatile lens.
