Scanners

I have 2 scanners: a Canon FS4000 slide and negative scanner and a Canon 8000F flat bed scanner.

Slide Scanning Workflow

• Load slides into the carrier. With the carrier oriented left-right and the slide-holding clips up, the slides should be oriented:
  • Emulsion side down.
  • Portrait.
  • Portrait images erect.
• Engage carrier in scanner. The scanner will draw the carrier into itself.
• In iMatch:
  • Navigate to the appropriate folder (create if necessary).
  • File | Scan | Start Scan
  • Set up to scan to the appropriate folder. Also, set up autonaming appropriately (see PhotoNaming).
  • Press Scan.
  • On Thumbnails popup, press Select All.
  • On Scan window, press Scan.
  • On completion of a carrier's worth of slides, remove carrier, refill it and repeat the prior two steps.
  • On completion of a box of slides, close the scanning windows. Select images for rotation from iMatch's thumbnails view, then Image | Transform | Rotate (appropriate direction).
  • Categorize the images.
